Paste Magazine

Welcome

The Krickets are an Americana trio from the gulf coast whose music is what Paste Magazine calls "a truly stunning, one-of-a-kind sound." Two-time IMA Song of the Year winner in both Folk and Alt Country categories, the band's music is genre-bending Americana steeped in their signature folk harmony. New single Pay No Mind produced by Rick Hirsh (Wet Willie, Greg Allman Band) features a fresh soul-rock inspired sound for the band and is due to release 8/31/23.

This latest single follows a 2020 self-produced release, These Games that premiered in American Songwriter Magazine's Best New Music feature.  Prior to that the band recorded two full length studio albums, Redbird (2018) in Nashville with Sam Ashworth and Spanish Moss Sirens (2016) with Single Lock Records’ Ben Tanner in Muscle Shoals, AL.

Originally coming together to play a breast cancer benefit, the band is passionate about supporting their namesake, TheCricketFund.org which provides cancer aid to the uninsured.

Band members: Emily Stuckey (vocals, guitar, percussion), Lauren Spring (vocals, guitar, fiddle) , Rachel Grubb (vocals, bass, guitar)

Pay No Mind releases THIS THURSDAY

Hey Kricket Fam!

Two day ‘til release day!!!  Our new single, Pay No Mind, will be released Thursday, 8/31/23!!!  It's been a minute since we’ve recorded and we wanted to do it up right. So we partnered with Ricky Hirsch of H20 studios and brought in some of the best musicians we know to back us up. We really love the result of this collaboration…a really fun tune steeped in our Southern roots with a good bit of soul. We hope you love it too!

July

Fam!

What a month.  July took us to NC, GA, VA, FL and AL, and let us tell you, it was a super fun ride.  We played places we'd never played in cities we'd never played in and got to meet so many new faces.   It can be scary to show up in a new area to play with songs no one has ever heard, but at every one of those shows, y'all SHOWED UP.   It means the world to us when you come out to a show and we're so grateful.    We have some news…..we have a new song coming out  8/31/23!!!  We recorded this one with the one and only Rick Hirsch in Mobile, AL and we're so excited about it!    You'll be able to pre-save it 8/18/23 and we'll start chirping about it soon.

Love yall!

New Single "These Games" coming!

What happens when the world turns upside down and a quarantine benches a band's tour?  Something magical.  They learn to write and record remotely, self-produce some music and then....release it - bells and whistles be damned.  With new single, These Games, The Krickets offer a raw, Americana harmony bath with a retro feel meant to be sung at the top of one's lungs.  It's a small part of a big message from a beloved musical community that nothing's gonna stop the music. New single, These Games, is a true first for them, fully self-produced and will drop June 5th, 2020.

Some happenings:

So, we were mind blown to win Alt Country Song of the Year at the 2019 Independent Music Awards for our title track, 'Redbird".  What?!!  We didn't go to NYC to go fetch it this time, but we still feel just as honored and it's made us look very fancy on our radio promos lately.   This lead to a big jump back to #2 on the Folk/Bluegrass charts for the most downloaded album in all of radio land this month.  We also landed our very first indie film song placement in a movie called Son of a Gun which you can watch here on Amazon Prime.  And last but not least, The Krickets were featured in a documentary!  The film was made to depict the differences female musicians face in a southern culture, but to us, it became the early story of our band.  All the good, bad and ugly is there.  We haven't been able to get through it yet without crying for the pain and joy of it all.   It's terrifying to share something that up close and personal, but we believe in telling the truth, sooo...   anyway, we will host a watch party on facebook for that soon so we can all experience the saga together.

Best ways to support us at the moment:

  • Add us to a playlist!   Find us here: Apple Music / Spotify / Amazon /  "Alexa, play The Krickets!"
  • Host a house show!  Just reply to this email and we'll tell you all about it
  • Come join our super fan club at Patreon!   For as little as a $1/m you can have access to supporter exclusive videos, special merch, early access to tickets and show info, watch our practices, etc.  We have a grand total of 5 patrons at this moment and one of them is Lauren's mom, so come help us out if you can!  This support helps with things like like website fees, festival app fees, gas, etc.   CLICK HERE to join our SUPER GROUP ?

We can't adequately put into words how grateful we are to you for supporting our music.  WE LOVE YOU AND CAN"T WAIT TO SEE YOU!!!

?some news?

Hey Fam!

Lauren and Emily here and we have some news.  We are excited to announce that Katrina and Amanda have finished their teaching degrees and will be starting their new journeys this year.  We’re so happy for them and hope you guys join us in wishing them the best as they head down these new paths!?  Don’t worry - take a deep breath - The Krickets are alive and well and have invited our very talented friend and fellow singer songwriter, Rachel Grubb to jam with us and bring that third harmony and bass guitar to the group.   We’ve been practicing for a couple months now and we’re really getting excited about the sound.  It’s hard to believe that it’s been 4 years since The Krickets began and we’re excited for this next chapter.   Thanks so much for the support you’ve shown us through every chapter thus far.  We love you and can’t wait to see you this fall!  #KeepKalmAndKricketOn
